About Us
We manage our allotment site (between Ollersett Avenue and the Sett Valley Trail) and support our members in pursuit of their gardening activities.
The society is committed to raising awareness of the benefits of growing and eating fresh vegetables.
Membership of the society is open to any local resident who is interested in gardening, even if they do not wish to rent an allotment. The society is interested in hearing from any inexperienced gardeners who wish to develop their skills and grow their own vegetables.
The society also participates in the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners’ seed scheme to enable members to buy seeds more cheaply than from a garden centre or seed supplier.
Please contact the secretary for details about the availability of plots.
Benefits of membership include the opportunity:
- to network with other gardeners,
- to participate in the seed purchasing scheme
- to promote gardening as a healthy living activity,
- to rent an allotment on the new site.
At present there is a waiting list for a plot on our allotment site. Please contact the secretary if you wish to add your name to this list. Plots will be allocated fairly when they become available.
Please note: Vacant plots will only be available to residents of New Mills.
Membership of the society is currently £5 a year. In addition to this membership subscription, rental of an allotment plot is £20 for the 2008 season.
